Meet Mrs. Sorochak

Mrs. Kathleen Sorochak is our part-time music teacher here at Pittsburg School.  We share her with the Colebrook school district.  She grew up in Lancaster, NH along with an older brother and older sister and graduated from White Mountains Regional High School in Whitefield, NH.  As a child, Mrs. Sorochak liked to read The Lorax because she liked the message that states “unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, then nothing it going to get better; it’s not.”  She liked to play Guess Who? as a child.

In high school, Mrs. Sorochak says that she liked being able to participate in as many activities as possible; her favorite subjects were music and history.  She was part of the cross-country running and skiing teams and also participated in track and field.  She wasn’t much of a fan of science in school so she couldn’t report on a favorite science project, but did say that she enjoyed making masks in her art classes.

Following high school, Mrs. Sorochak went to the University of Southern Maine where she enjoyed being able to study the subjects that she enjoys the most.

Mrs. Sorochak said that she and her husband have an Alaskan Husky/Pointer mix dog named Fresca.  She loves to really run.  Thanksgiving is Mrs. Sorochak’s favorite holiday, and she particularly likes eating cheesecake on that holiday.  Her favorite vacation destination is New York City because she loves Broadway. Steve Carell is Mrs. Sorochak’s favorite comedian, and she likes the cartoon Garfield a lot.

Mrs. Sorochak likes a lot about her life.  She said, “My family and my job [are very important to me].  It’s great to wake up in the morning and to be excited to come to work!  [I like] seeing improvement in my students.”
