Dear Parent/Guardian,

Hello, my name is Emily Bernhardt and I’m the Physical Education teacher here at Pittsburg School.  I just wanted to take a moment to let you know what my program will be like this year.  Physical Education at this level is motor skill development, social development and knowledge that will help your child to grow into a healthy, well-rounded individual.  It is meant to be fun and enjoyable for the students, as well as a good learning experience.

RESPECT will be the theme of the class.  I will help the students understand that they must have respect for others and equipmentAny misuse or destruction of equipment by your child, you are responsible to pay for the equipment.  Respect will be part of the character development the students will be working on during activity in class.  There are going to be many basic skills that I will cover for the psychomotor development of the students.  Some of the skills that your child will be working on are found at the bottom of this page.

As part of your child’s physical education class I will be evaluate good listening skills.  The activity that I will use is to have a design with their name on it; for example September they will have leaves.  At the end of every class if they have demonstrated good listening skills then I will give them a sticker to place on their leaf.  Then at the end of the month they will be given the leaf to take home.  So please keep your eyes open for something at the end of each month.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time.  This is going to be a great year and I look forward to working with your child.
