We here at Pittsburg School love celebrating reading with special dress-up days and special events. We will be celebrating during the week of February 27-March 3...right after we return from vacation. Throughout the week, students in K-6 will be able to answer reading trivia questions, and everyone will be able to take a guess at how many goldfish crackers are in the container in the library (think One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish). Look for reading quotes in the daily announcements as well.
Below is a brief outline of planned events and the special dress-up days.
Monday, February 27: Grinchiest Green Day (wear lots of green like the Grinch that stole Christmas)
Tuesday, February 28: "I can Read with my Eyes Shut" Day (wear something with words on it)
Wednesday, March 1: Dress as your favorite Dr. Seuss character or wear red and white.
Thursday, March 2: Whoville Hair Day (wear a wacky hair style)
Friday, March 3: Foxiest Socks Day (wear crazy socks like the Fox in Socks)
Reading Parade and Celebration will take place on Wednesday, March 1.
All K-2 students will meet in the library with their teachers to recite the Readers' Pledge before going on a round-robin tour to listen to three guest readers as they read. Following the story time, we will gather in the cafeteria for special treats prepared for us by Hannah and Jessica Haynes.

As always, remember that reading opens a wonderful world of enjoyment for all.
